Elephant is the largest land mammal on our planet, male elephants tend to be larger than females with the weigh between 3.2-4.5 tonnes. Newborn elephants generally weigh between 50-150kg. The pregnancy of elephants is approximately 2 years. Baby elephants will stay with their mother (or a special auntie chosen by the mother in case anything happen to her) and follow their mother everywhere learning survival lessons until they are around 4 years old, then they will begin to act more independently. Female elephants are more social than males.

Elephants a huge amount, most of the day is spent eating and needing to consume around 150-200kg of food and drink water around 150 liters each day.They enjoy varieties of jungle plants, fruits and vegetables especially bamboo shoots and leaves, bananas, corn and sugar cane. Only 40-50% of the food elephants eat is digested. Elephants usually sleep around 4 hours at night and spend most of the rest of their time eating, they only lie down to sleep when they are sick.

Elephant is a kind of animals that is not good to tolerate from high temperature because elephant has endothermic skin which is black and thick. Elephant has small part of sweat gland surrounding the base of nails, so elephant’s drinking and bathing time are very important which need to be realized by elephant care takers.
